Tangle Falls spills down a series of rocky ledges right beside the Icefields Parkway, on the Jasper side of Sunwapta Pass, with snowy peaks around it. Many visitors come across it by chance after the Columbia Icefield or the Skywalk and are surprised by how pretty it is for a roadside stop. In late autumn, icicles form along the edges while the water keeps running, which one reviewer found especially striking.
Parking is in a lot on the other side of the road, where there are toilets, so you cross the highway on foot to reach the falls. You can scramble a short way up either side for different angles, and teenagers in particular seem to enjoy the steep climb. The Wilcox Pass hike starts nearby for anyone wanting more.
Most people stay 10 or 15 minutes. It's not huge, but reviewers keep calling it worth the pause. The roadside viewpoints on this stretch reopened after the 2024 wildfire season. It's a small, steep mountain creek, not a place to fish.
