Smoke Bluffs Park is a cluster of granite walls and bluffs on the edge of downtown Squamish, and on any fine day it's full of climbers. Between the walls, trails climb to viewpoints looking out over the town, the Stawamus Chief and Howe Sound.
Climbers call it one of the most accessible and family-friendly crags around, with routes starting right from the parking lot and grades for beginners to experts. There are flat trails with benches and picnic tables at popular walls, and bolted steps and ladders help hikers up the steeper sections.
You don't need to climb to enjoy it. The loop trail takes around 45 minutes and passes several viewpoints, and it's also used for trail running and even yoga. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Weekends get crowded and the lots fill early. There are upper and lower lots, plus overflow across from the Squamish Adventure Centre, so arrive in the morning.
