Sentier des cimes Laurentides is an elevated wooden walkway that rises through the forest canopy to a 40 m panoramic tower. From the top, the Laurentians roll out in every direction, and reviewers say the view is especially striking at sunset and in fall colour. It's one of the most-reviewed attractions in the area, and the large majority love it.
The design is the big draw for many families. The walkway climbs gently, with no steps and a maximum 6% grade, so wheelchairs, strollers and walkers can reach the top; one visitor put the round trip at about 2.7 km, and another about 20 minutes up. Along the way there are balance beams, lookout nooks and bird and squirrel feeding stations to watch. At the top, a net stretched across the tower is a hit with kids and adults.
There's more to do on site: a 53 m forest slide (paid per ride), a playground, a fire pit, a gift shop and a cafeteria. One visitor recommends going in late afternoon to see the lights come on after dark. Several reviewers say the first three weeks of October are the best time for colour.
It gets busy. Buy tickets ahead, especially on weekends, when online booking is required. Dogs aren't allowed other than service animals, and it's cold and windy at the top in the shoulder seasons. The site closes in storms and high winds.
