The Parc linéaire de la Rivière-des-Roches follows both banks of a small, rocky river in Charlesbourg. The city describes views of the river and its little waterfalls, and visitors mention the sound of the water, footbridges and carved dead trees, with several saying it feels much wilder than its residential setting.
The main path is short and easy, with a slight incline, benches along the way and a modern playground that makes it popular with families. It's dog-friendly. Side trails lead further into the forest; one group walked about 2 km up the valley to a sugar shack and on toward Lac des Roches, around 8 km in total, and found it pleasant in winter.
This is a place to walk rather than fish. Lac des Roches is a drinking water reservoir for Charlesbourg and human activity there is prohibited, and we haven't confirmed whether angling is allowed on the river itself.
The trail surface is small stones, so a reviewer notes access is difficult for people with reduced mobility. Parking is in the roundabout at the park entrance on rue des Lièvres.
