A Sépaq-run park around Montmorency Falls, taller than Niagara, just outside Québec City, with a cable car, suspension bridge, panoramic stairs, zip lines and via ferrata. Very busy on summer weekends.
Montmorency Falls drops off a cliff where the Montmorency River meets the St. Lawrence, and reviewers point out it's taller than Niagara. The park gives you plenty of angles on it: from the base, from lookouts along the cliff edge and from a suspension bridge that crosses right over the top.
Getting between levels is part of the outing. You can climb the long panoramic staircase or ride the cable car, which one visitor noted can be used for repeat trips on a single fare. There's a restaurant, a gift shop with a coffee counter, maintained trails and a playground nearby. Zip lines over the falls and via ferrata climbing routes are available for an extra charge.
The outdoor part of the site is open year-round. Winter visitors describe partly frozen falls, and Sépaq lists winter hiking and snowshoeing. One visitor who came just before Christmas found the main service building closed and activities unavailable, so it was a walk-around visit only. Fishing isn't among the activities the park lists.
Crowds are the main caveat. One visitor found late morning to early afternoon on weekends very busy, with long lines at the visitor centre, and suggests arriving early on a weekday. Sépaq recommends buying access online before you go. Expect plenty of walking and stairs.
