Oyama lookout
A drive-up viewpoint partway up Oyama Lake Road in Lake Country, looking down on turquoise Kalamalka and Wood lakes. Free, but the last 2 km of gravel are rough.

The Oyama Lookout is a broad, mostly flat clearing on the edge of the mountain above Oyama, between Kelowna and Vernon. The view takes in Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake on either side of the narrow isthmus, and on a sunny day both glow turquoise. Reviewers are close to unanimous that it's one of the best views in the Okanagan, especially at sunset.
You drive right up to it, so there's no hike required, though some people explore the paths around the top. It's completely natural up here apart from a small plaque, so bring a chair, water and anything else you want. One visitor went in winter and found the top snowy but the view just as good.
The road is the main thing to plan for. It's gravel, washboarded by logging trucks, and the last couple of kilometres have sharp rocks. One driver made it in a hatchback by going slowly, while other sources suggest AWD or a higher vehicle. Watch for logging trucks and for dirt bikes popping out of side trails.
