Marmot Falls is one of a set of waterfalls on Marmot Creek reached from the Troll Falls trailhead near Kananaskis Village. Its standout feature is that you can step behind the curtain of water, and reviewers say the view of and from the falls is worth the walk.

The route follows the mostly flat Troll Falls trail to the lower falls, then climbs a side trail past Marmot Falls to the upper falls. One family measured about 2.2 km to reach it, and their five- and seven-year-olds managed fine. The last part gets steeper, but handrails and stairs help.

It's a good family outing and works year-round. A winter visitor found ice cleats made the trail much easier. You'll need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass to park. Marmot Creek is a small, steep stream; if you do plan to fish it, the Kananaskis River tributary rules apply.

There are no washrooms at the falls, and the trail isn't suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Expect company on weekends, since Troll Falls is one of the busiest easy hikes in the area.
