Reviewers say that on a clear day you can see roughly 100 km across the prairie, as far as the Great Sand Hills. A wooden picture frame at the lookout is a popular photo prop.
It's an easy drive from the park entrance, and visitors put it about 7 km from the Centre Block's commercial area. Bald Butte, another viewpoint, is about a kilometre away, so most people see both on the same outing. The parking area is wheelchair accessible, and several reviewers found it quiet, with nobody else there.
It works at any time of day. Visitors recommend it for sunset, and after dark it's a strong stargazing spot, since the park is a designated dark sky preserve. One reviewer suggested checking an aurora forecast app in case the northern lights are out.
The only real caveat is haze: a couple of visitors arrived on smoky days and missed the long-distance view. Note that while one visitor didn't pay at the lookout itself, Sask Parks requires a vehicle entry permit to be in the park.
