Le Massif rises straight out of the St. Lawrence shore in Charlevoix, and nearly every reviewer mentions the river views, which you get from almost every run and trail. In winter it's a full ski resort with alpine and cross-country trails, luge and dog sledding. In summer and fall the mountain switches to hiking, mountain biking, canyoning and scenic gondola rides.
Skiers speak well of it. Reviewers describe friendly staff and ski patrol, quick lifts, a warm gondola ride up and snow that tends to stay good, though many runs are narrow and the wind can be bitterly cold. There's parking at both the base and the summit, and one visitor recommended parking at the top. Luge riders found the guides helpful and funny. The site lists wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and washrooms.
In the warmer months there are short family hiking trails of 2 to 3.5 km, free to use, from both the summit and the base, and about 55 km of purpose-built mountain bike trails running from early summer to mid-October. The gondola can make a hike one way easier.
The complaints are about cost and access. One recent visitor said the road to their parking area damaged their SUV and found a single family gondola ride expensive. A summer mountain biker had a poor experience with a gondola attendant. Check road conditions for the lot you're heading to, and look at prices in advance if you only want a short visit.
