It's a large, deep lake with islands scattered across it and boreal forest around the shore. There's a lot to do on the water. The lake has public beaches at Christel Beach and Murray Doell, two public boat launches, and resorts on the south shore that rent cabins, boats and paddle craft. Murray Doell Campground on the north shore is the provincial option, with electric sites, a beach and a launch. Boating, swimming and beach days fill most summer visits.
Fishing gets regular praise, with a few people saying you can do well even without local knowledge.
