The red chairs sit on the Pyramid Bench, the forested terrace just north of the Jasper townsite, on trail 2b. Reviewers say they're roughly half a kilometre from the trailhead, up a steep climb through thick woods, and the view from the top opens out over the valley. The trail is well marked and the area reopened after the 2024 wildfire.
Many hikers keep going. About another 1.5 km up the trail brings you to the Two Lakes lookout, which several people found even better, and trail 2 continues with views over the town, the lakes and the mountains. Going clockwise on the loop, the first part is steep and the top is open and good for lunch, with the second half back through the woods.
Opinions on the chairs themselves vary. One visitor found the trees had grown up enough to hide Pyramid Lake and Pyramid Mountain, which spoiled it for photos, and suggested skipping it if time is short. Others with sore knees still thought the climb was worth it. Wear decent shoes for the steep grade. There's no water access up here; it's a forest viewpoint.
