Reviewers put the best eagle viewing between November and January, and some saw good numbers into February. Binoculars make a big difference, and BC Parks notes that volunteers with spotting scopes are often on the dyke on peak-season weekends. Parking is across the road from the viewing area.
Locals use it for walks with dogs and children, and visitors enjoy the mix of neighbours and tourists. The far bank is Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park, which has no public access; it's closed to recreation other than fishing from October through March to protect the birds.
Catch-and-release fly fishing is allowed on the Squamish River here under BC regulations, but anglers are asked to avoid the eagle season. Keep dogs leashed and give the birds room, especially in winter.
