Parc de la rivière Doncaster follows the Doncaster River through mixed forest in Sainte-Adèle, about 50 minutes from Montréal. Visitors talk about the sound of the river, a pretty waterfall, and a network of well-signed trails that suits everyone from young families to hikers wanting a bit of a climb.
There are more than 10 km of trails, including about 2 km suitable for strollers and reduced mobility. Some river trails are gravel and easy, while others are rocky with roots. A summit trail takes about 30 minutes uphill to a bench and a modest view. One family preferred the east side and warned that the west side has a steep hill near the end that's hard with a stroller. Toilets, picnic tables, a gazebo and a small play structure are at the entrance.
Trout fishing runs from mid-May to mid-September. You need a Québec fishing licence plus the park's fishing access, there's a daily trout limit, and worms and basic tackle are sold on site. Leashed dogs are welcome, and in winter the trails are used for snowshoeing and Nordic walking. Reviewers recommend crampons or snowshoes because some sections get icy.
Parking is the main headache. One family arrived at 9 a.m. to plenty of space, but by noon cars were lined up along the road almost a kilometre away. A day-access fee applies (Sainte-Adèle residents enter free), and management changed in 2025, so prices quoted in older reviews may be out of date.
