Cliff Falls is part of Kanaka Creek Regional Park, where the creek has cut a sandstone canyon and pours over ledges on both its north and south arms. It's about a ten-minute walk to the falls, with a few steep bits, on trails that reviewers describe as easy to moderate. Metro Vancouver's Canyon Trail also connects the fish hatchery to Cliff Falls, about 1.2 km one way, for a longer outing. There's a picnic area, and reviewers found the park clean and quiet.
Families like it; one couple's toddler loved watching the water, and another group spanned three generations. It works as a quick evening walk or part of a longer loop through the park. Dogs must be leashed.
You can't get down to the water at the falls, and one visitor was disappointed not to see them up close. That's for good reason: Metro Vancouver warns of steep, slippery cliffs, deceptive pool depths and underwater hazards, and asks people to stay out of the creek and canyon. One recent visitor ended up parking on the street, so allow extra time on busy days.
