Cascade Lookout sits partway up Blackwall Road in E.C. Manning Provincial Park, and on a clear day the view takes in ridge after ridge of the Cascade Mountains, well into the United States. Reviewers are close to unanimous: it's one of the best roadside views along Highway 3.

Getting there is a short detour. From Manning Park Resort it's roughly a 15-minute, 8 km drive up a winding paved road. One reviewer found the drop-offs without barriers unnerving, and motorcyclists say the road suits all levels if you respect slower traffic. BC Parks posts the road hours as 6 am to 11 pm, and the road beyond the lookout to the alpine meadows opens later in the season, so check the park's trail report before going.

Many people combine it with the alpine meadows further up Blackwall Road or a short walk nearby. One visitor recommends coming back after dark on a clear night for stars. Grouse, birds and squirrels hang around the parking area and are unusually tame.

That tameness is the problem. Visitors have seen people feeding squirrels and leaving snacks behind, and one noted the no-feeding sign is easy to miss. Please don't feed wildlife. Parking is small and fills up quickly on busy days, and wildfire smoke can haze the view in late summer.
