Bracebridge Falls runs right through the middle of town, where the north branch of the Muskoka River spills past an old dam and under the Silver Bridge into Bracebridge Bay. It's one of the town's signature sights, and visitors like how easy it is to reach by car and even by boat.
You can park and walk around the falls in a few minutes, then carry on to the main street for a meal. One reviewer made it a lunch stop on the way north to Huntsville. At night the falls and the historic pump house are lit up, and a couple of visitors say evening is the best time to go.
Bracebridge Bay Park at the foot of the falls has walkways, picnic tables, docks and a small beach, and it's a handy put-in for a canoe or kayak on the Muskoka River. The river is open to angling under Ontario's sportfishing rules, and Muskoka waters hold bass and pike among other species.
