Begbie Falls drops through the forest just above Upper Arrow Lake, a short drive south of Revelstoke. Visitors describe a lively waterfall and river, a lookout over the falls, and a beach a little further on with mountain views across the water.
From the lower parking area it's roughly a 5 to 10 minute walk down a well-kept, well-signed trail. Some people park at the top of the road instead and add about half an hour of easy walking each way on the dirt road. There's also a longer route in from the Begbie Bluffs parking on Highway 23 via the Bluff Trail. A few switchbacks mean the trail isn't ideal for anyone unsteady on their feet, and one visitor found it narrow for small children.
Upper Arrow Lake is open to angling under BC's Kootenay (Region 4) regulations and is known for rainbow trout, bull trout and kokanee, so the beach doubles as a spot to cast a line. Begbie Creek itself is a lake tributary and falls under the stricter stream rules. A fee-based recreation site campground sits along the road just before the falls if you want to stay.
The road is the main complaint. It's unpaved, potholed and effectively single-lane in places, so passing other cars can be awkward and several reviewers recommend an SUV. In wet summers the mosquitoes at the viewpoint are dense, so bring repellent.
