A roadside lookout on Highway 17 in Lake Superior Provincial Park with a wide view over Agawa Bay and Lake Superior. Easy to reach with plenty of parking, though the washrooms and pavement get poor marks.
This lookout sits just off Highway 17 above Agawa Bay, in the southern part of Lake Superior Provincial Park. Most visitors stop for the long view over Lake Superior, and several say photos don't capture it. The lot is on the inland side of the highway, so you look out across the road rather than from a cliff edge.
It's a quick, easy stop with a large parking area. Visitors who poked around behind the lot found a small spring on the rocks and some interesting stone to look at. One traveller who stopped after dark described a sky full of stars, which makes sense given how little light there is along this stretch of shore.
The lookout is a good first or last stop for the Agawa Bay area. The park's visitor centre and the Agawa Bay campground are a few kilometres south, along with a long sand and pebble beach and the start of the Coastal Trail. Ontario Parks requires a permit to park at Agawa Bay itself in the main season.
Not everyone is won over. One recent visitor found the view ordinary and the parking lot in need of repaving, and another advised skipping the washrooms unless you have no choice. Treat it as a stretch-your-legs stop rather than a destination.
