Muskie Bay Resort is a family-run resort in the Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls area with cabins and motel rooms, and most reviews are five stars. Guests describe clean, spacious cabins with full kitchens, full-size fridges and water views, plus a sauna, hot tub and bonfires. The owners' friendly dogs get a mention too.
Fishing is the focus. From the resort you can fish Crow Lake, reach Lake of the Woods and try a number of remote lakes nearby. Rental boats are well equipped, and the owners and their guide are credited with knowing the hot spots and showing newcomers where and how to fish. One guest suggested hiring a guide for a day or two to learn the water.
Families and multi-generation groups feel at home. Some choose an American Plan with meals included, and the home cooking, including homemade pies and cakes, is well liked. The resort runs in winter as well, with ice fishing and snowmobiles available for guests who don't bring their own, and some visitors have come for both seasons for a decade.
The one detailed complaint concerns a guided whitetail hunt: the guest rated the food and lodging highly but found the stands old and the guiding poor. Anglers are the happiest customers here, so if you're coming to hunt, ask detailed questions about stands and guiding before you book.
