The park's beaches are the draw, and dog owners like how dog-friendly it is. Trails are wide and well kept, including the Bluff trail, and Kettle Lake is good for canoeing. There's a playground for kids. You'll need to drive to the beaches, as there's no family-friendly walking or biking route from the campsites.
Expect little or no cell service across most carriers, so it's a place to disconnect rather than work remotely. Watch for falling branches and acorns under the trees, and in some years caterpillars have been a nuisance, so a tarp over your site helps.
