The owners come up in almost every review. They're friendly and accommodating, especially with first-time campers, and one even fixed a guest's broken fridge vent on a Sunday. Sites are a good size, with pull-throughs and full hookups up to 50 amps, and the shower house is clean and freshly painted. There are shady tent sites too, and the cabins have kitchens. A worker staying several nights found a cabin a better deal than a motel.
Maple Creek itself is part of the appeal. It's walkable, with friendly shops, a local brewery and a well-stocked grocery store. One reviewer suggests Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, about 31 km away, and Fort Walsh, a little further, for day trips.
The one recurring note is the train. The tracks run right beside the campground and horns sound several times a day. Some campers enjoy it, but light sleepers should be prepared.
