Campers describe it as quiet and well treed, with good privacy at many sites and large tent sites along the river. The showers are a highlight in review after review: clean, hot, included in the price with no coins, and with good pressure and a private area with a bench for changing. Staff and owners are described as friendly and quick at check-in, and knowledgeable about the area. Sites are clean and fairly level, with electric available, and new arrivals are accepted until 11 pm. Several travellers stayed in the small cabins, simple shed-style units with beds, a bar fridge and a space heater, and found them cozy and a good break from setting up a tent.
Families like the pool, trampoline, hiking trails and paddleboard and non-motorized boat rentals, and one guest enjoyed an old-style wood-fired sauna. It's a popular overnight stop on the Trans-Canada and a handy base for Lake Superior sights, and some guests extended their stay.
Caveats are minor. Some sites are quite close together, mosquitoes can be fierce, and a couple of parents found the playground underwhelming. One visitor suggested staff explain how the sauna works when you check in.
