Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is a large day-use area and campground on Wabamun Lake, about 45 minutes from Edmonton. Visitors describe a sandy beach with a dock, a big lake for swimming, boating, sailing and jet skis, and plenty of space to just sit and enjoy the view.
It's well set up for family days out. Reviewers mention lots of picnic tables and shaded areas, playgrounds, boat rentals, washrooms near the beach and plenty of parking. There are walking and biking trails, including easy family hikes and a path along the lake. The campground has treed sites and RV sites.
Timing matters. In summer the beach and campground can be very crowded, and one visitor skipped it for that reason. In September the park is quiet and the trees turn, though it can be chilly and windy on the water.

Washrooms have been called unpleasant, dog owners found few good spots to take pets into the water, and trains pass by the campground every couple of hours.
