Thunder Bay KOA Holiday sits just outside the city in Shuniah, near the highway. RVers find lots of large pull-through sites with up to 50-amp service, water and sewer, and some sites have patios and clean propane grills. The roads inside the park are unpaved and a bit bumpy.
Staff get strong praise. One family said the team went well beyond the call of duty to help with vehicle trouble, and another was moved to a site with a fire pit at no extra charge. Facilities are described as clean and in good working order, and one long-time regular says they are cleaned several times a day.
There is a lot for kids: a large pool, a splash area for little ones, an inflatable jump pad, shuffleboard, a soccer field, mini putt, a driving range and catch-and-release fishing. Families return year after year, and one regular has been coming for 15 years.
The two recurring complaints are price and highway proximity. One recent visitor on a water and electric site felt it was overpriced, that sites were cramped like a parking lot and that the dump station looked rough. Some seasonal sites have shade, but many transient sites do not. Not every site has a fire pit, so ask if you want one.
