The facilities impress almost everyone. Washrooms and free hot showers are repeatedly called spotless, and the toilets in the loops are flush toilets with sinks rather than basic pit toilets. There are dishwashing sinks and a boat launch. The camp hosts are friendly and do regular rounds, selling ice and firewood that one camper said was in great shape.
The lake is the main attraction. Rather than one long sandy beach there are several small bays and mini beaches, so groups often get a spot to themselves, and the water is warm enough to swim all day in summer. The bays stay shaded until early afternoon. There's a newer playground popular with kids, and hiking trails with lake views and a riverside walk nearby.
The main thing to plan for is the trail down to the lake, which is short but fairly steep. That's worth knowing if you're carrying a paddleboard, kayak or lots of beach gear. One visitor also warned that the weather can turn quickly.
