Sites offer sewer, water and 30- or 50-amp power, which regulars like for longer stays and keeping trailers warm off-season. Washrooms get repeated praise: the outhouse-style buildings have flush toilets and sinks, and there's a full shower house plus a dishwashing station. The check-in office rents forgotten gear, refills propane and sells firewood, ice cream and camp items, and there's Wi-Fi. The operator gets a shout-out for making guests feel welcome.
Hiking starts right from the campground. The Twenty Minute Lake trail is a gentle stroll, Lightning Lake is about half a kilometre away, and the Lightning Lake loop is a bit more effort. A large playground keeps kids busy, and the area offers canoeing, fishing, biking and winter activities.
The trade-off is privacy. Trees are still small, so most sites, especially pull-throughs, are open and exposed; bring a sun shelter.
