A newer Sépaq campground near Saint-Gédéon on Lac Saint-Jean, Quebec, with large, private forest sites, modern facilities, yurts and access to over 60 km of paved bike paths. It is far from Pointe-Taillon's main beaches.
Camp-de-Touage is a newer Sépaq campground set in the forest near Lac Saint-Jean. Campers describe large, semi-shaded sites spread well apart, easy to back into and with good privacy. A few spots, such as those numbered 417 to 421, give direct access to the lake.
The facilities are modern and clean. Water and toilets are close to the sites, and the service centre has large family bathrooms with hot showers. Bikes, kayaks and paddleboards can be rented, and new yurts are available. Staff get a warm mention.
Cycling is the big draw, with more than 60 km of paved bike paths and the option of riding around the lake. There is a public golf course nearby, and one camper enjoyed a restaurant with a beach just outside the park.
Beach and water access are limited. The on-site beach is very small, and paddlers must stay within the buoys because of dams nearby. One visitor was disappointed to find the campground is about 65 km from the beaches, boardwalks and marshes of Pointe-Taillon, and that launching a kayak meant carrying it down a long gravel path. Bring water shoes for swimming.
