Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park sits in a wide river valley where the South Saskatchewan widens into Lake Diefenbaker. The landscape is the big draw: rolling hills, ravines and views over the water. One traveller who camped at 18 parks across the country named it their favourite.
Campsites are well treed with moderate privacy, spread across several loops, some of them right beside the lake. Washrooms and showers are described as clean and newer, and both showers and firewood have been free. The park store and ice cream stand are popular, and staff are friendly. Note that a daily vehicle entry fee applies on top of your camping reservation.
Hiking is a highlight. The Ridges and Ravines trail gets praise for its lake views, and other paths wind past beaver ponds and valley plants, with signs of moose and coyotes. There are several sandy beaches, and plenty of people fish Lake Diefenbaker. The park also hosts occasional events at the amphitheatre.
A few campers ran into swarms of red ants on their sites, and one found leftover garbage from a previous camper. Paddle boarders noted that beach access for launching isn't always close to parking, and one visitor found the campground map inaccurate about water taps and shower locations. Summer can be very hot, and some trail sections are steep.
