Point Campground is a small backcountry site on Upper Kananaskis Lake, reached by roughly a 4 km trail from the parking area. Reviewers describe serene lake and mountain views, and with only 20 tent sites spread well apart, you rarely see your neighbours except on the trail.
The setup is simple but well looked after. There are communal cooking areas with picnic tables, bear lockers and fire pits, and several campers mention firewood and axes being provided, though one found none in 2020. The outhouses have been upgraded. There's no garbage drop and no treated water, so pack out your trash and filter or bring water from the lake or pond. Bring toilet paper, as none is supplied.
Most reviewers call it a perfect first backcountry trip. The hike is about an hour with mostly easy ground and a short rocky section, and families with kids and youth groups are common. It's also a good base for the short trip to Hidden Lake with a stop at Upper Kananaskis Falls, and paddlers can land on the west side near the cooking area. One group enjoyed winter camping here, with no bugs.
