Maple Bay Campground is a big campground on Cultus Lake, and the lake is what draws people. Sites are generally spacious, which makes it popular with larger groups, and there are cabins as well as unserviced sites and a separate eco side with fewer amenities.
Experiences with upkeep vary. Some campers found the facilities clean and the staff helpful with trail advice. Others, including a visitor this season, found washrooms rarely cleaned, toilet paper out, a leaking shower tap and a stall door that wouldn't lock. There are flush toilets and showers on the main side; the eco side has one washroom and two water taps.
Families get free summer programs, though there's no playground. Swimming and kayaking are easy from the beach, and the Lindell general store and a small café-restaurant next to it are a few minutes away.
Noise is the other common theme. Traffic from the main road reaches some sites, big groups can run late, and rangers are spread thin in such a large campground. Two recent reviewers also saw neighbours lighting fires during a posted fire ban. Pick a site away from the road if you're a light sleeper, and report problems to the ranger early.
