Sites are level and nicely spaced, with a mix of pull-through, back-in and accessible spots, some reservable and some first come, first served. One RVer backed a 23-foot trailer in without unhitching. Facilities are basic: pit toilets and fresh drinking water. Staff get credit for going out of their way to help.
There's a trail along the lake that makes a good morning walk, though a recent visitor had to climb over a few downed trees. It's also a handy base for hiking Mount Fitzwilliam, and hikes and a café are within reach.
The one consistent complaint is noise. Heavy truck traffic runs along Highway 16 on one side of the valley and a busy rail line on the other, with trains passing all night. Most say it quiets down and didn't spoil the stay, but tenters and light sleepers should bring earplugs.
