Lodgepole is a woodsy, unserviced campground in the Alberta block of Cypress Hills. Campers like the shade and the trees, and one regular who comes in mid-August finds it very quiet during the week, with plenty of wildlife around. Sites are described as spacious, with a table and grill, and fit a couple of tents and vehicles.
There is no power or showers here. Outhouses and non-drinking water taps are a short walk from the sites, and reviewers found them clean. For showers and flush toilets, campers drive about five minutes down to the lake and townsite, where the beach, boat launch and other park amenities are.
The drawbacks are few. One camper was annoyed by neighbours running generators for half the day, and another stay was dampened by a fire ban, so check the park's fire status before you go and bring drinking water.
