Jarvis Lake Campground is a small spot of around 20 sites right beside the lake, and visitors describe it as quiet, clean and beautiful. The lake is often glassy, loons can be heard, and birds and squirrels are everywhere. Some sites back onto the forest, and a few are more secluded than others.
Sites have power, and one angler notes a dock that's good for fishing. The bathrooms are pit toilets with hand sanitizer and are kept clean. There's no potable water from the pumps and no showers, so bring your own water; one camper filled up and used the dump station in Hinton. Park rangers are around keeping an eye on things, and the interpretive centre staff get a mention for being helpful.
It's a good choice for families and paddlers. There's a small playground, a boat launch and a beach, and canoes, kayaks and paddleboards can be rented at the day-use kiosk. A trail from the dock leads around the lake to the beach on the far side, and there are more hikes nearby.
Sites are fairly close together, and it can fill up on weekends even when it's nearly empty midweek. One camper was frustrated that showers advertised at nearby Gregg Lake were closed during their stay. This is bear country, so store food properly.
