Hidden Valley Campground lives up to its name. The lane in runs past a cow field and through a couple of gates, and several visitors say it's a little tricky to find. At the bottom is a peaceful valley on the Saugeen River, surrounded by forest, with many sites right at the water's edge and birds and wildlife all around.
Nearly every review mentions the owner. Campers describe him delivering firewood to sites, lending a forgotten hydro adaptor, helping carry gear, giving tours and driving kids around the property. Washrooms and showers are clean, prices are called fair, and there are cabins that one group found spotless. Some visitors mention a breakfast and food and ice cream available on site.
The river is the main attraction. Anglers talk about good fishing from the sites, and you can bring or rent a canoe, or rent tubes to float downstream. There's a playground and trampolines for kids, and the open field areas make it popular with church groups, youth camps and large gatherings. Sauble Beach is about 20 minutes away.
