Golden Lake Park Campground sits right on Golden Lake, and the beach is what most visitors talk about. The water stays shallow for a long way out, which makes it an easy place for kids to play, and the sand is soft. Some sites are right along the water, and the park has a settled, community feel thanks to a large group of seasonal campers.
Most reviewers find it well run. Washrooms and showers are repeatedly described as clean, the camp store covers the basics, and staff and owners get a lot of praise for being friendly and helpful at check-in. Transient sites are a good size, and at least one guest had a back-in site with full hookups.
There's plenty going on: a basketball court, organized activities for all ages, occasional live music, a dog park and a shaded beach area. One camper who has come for years says the fishing is good for small fish, bass and pike. It suits families and anyone after a quiet, relaxing lake weekend.
Not everyone clicked with it. A recent visitor found their site mostly bare earth under a heavy canopy that dropped twigs and made it gloomy, noted plenty of barking dogs, and had to pay extra for Wi-Fi. Another family would have liked the park to allow quiet generators and ground mats, which are both banned. One guest had a late night of loud music from a neighbour.
