Campers say sites are generally spread out enough to feel private, and the tent sites are fairly large.
Cleanliness comes up again and again. A couple of campers call these the best-kept outhouses they've seen, cleaned and stocked every morning, and garbage is emptied regularly. Staff are described as friendly and helpful. There are plenty of pull-through sites for trailers, one loop has power, and the on-site store carries most staples and ice at a fair price. Drinking water is good. There's no sewer dump on site, but one is a short drive away in Nordegg.
The lake is the main attraction. It's shallow, with a small-rock bottom along the eastern shore, which makes it easy for kids to swim, and the water is warmer than people expect. Canoeing and kayaking are popular, and paddling a full circuit of the lake takes about two hours. Fishing reports are mixed. There are plenty of walking trails and mountain biking, and scenic Crescent Falls is nearby. Visitors have spotted eagles over the water.
Book well in advance, since spots fill quickly. Firewood is sold by the piece, so bring your own if you can. This is bear country, so carry bear spray.
