Emerald Bay Campground sits on Green Lake in the Lone Butte and Interlakes area, and campers keep returning to the lake itself: crystal clear and warm enough for swimming by August. Reviewers describe the campground as clean, quiet and well maintained, with wide, flat sites and plenty of trees and open space between them. Deer wander through, and coyotes can be heard at night.

Pit toilets are kept clean, and a ranger comes around a few times a day selling firewood. Sites are reservable, and one camper recommends booking a prime waterfront site online. Others found plenty of good sites available without booking ahead. Sites 38 to 44 have small beach coves, while other lakefront sites have a steep, rocky drop to the water. Groups can use double sites or a group area with a large shelter, stove and tables.

This is a place for swimming, fishing and relaxing by the water. There's a large public beach and picnic area, reached by stairs, a playground for kids, and trails through the woods at both ends of the campground that are handy for dog walks. A store is a short walk away, and there's a boat launch a few minutes' drive further along the road.

Beyond the lake there isn't much to do, so a rainy day may mean a drive into Lone Butte or 100 Mile House. Sites are large but not especially private, and some people cut through sites to reach the lake. It's dog-friendly and has a playground, so don't expect absolute silence.
