Duck Mountain Provincial Park sits in the boreal forest around Madge Lake, and visitors keep coming back to the views and the clear water. It's a spread-out park, with several campgrounds such as Pickerel Point, Birch and Fern, and campers say sites are nicely treed and well kept. Lakeview sites at Birch get singled out, and one camper found Fern very private later in the season.
Reviewers describe clean main washrooms and helpful young staff. There are yurts as well as regular sites, and the park is popular enough that one family couldn't extend their stay. A small store covers essentials and treats, and there are restaurants and ice cream nearby. One visitor found it good value.
Ministik Beach is the main swimming spot, with a floating inflatable play structure in summer and few weeds. When the wind is wrong there is a smaller, more sheltered beach near Pickerel Point. Hiking trails wind through the woods, and people also come to fish, rent boats, golf, play mini golf and ride horses. In winter, one visitor skied the trails and stayed overnight in a shelter.
The main caveat is bugs: several campers found the mosquitoes relentless. Bears live in the area, so store food properly. One hiker found some trails closed or changed from the printed maps, so check at the visitor centre before heading out.
