Domaine des dunes is a wooded campground a couple of minutes from the village of Tadoussac and close to the famous sand dunes. Location is its strongest point: visitors describe easy access to the town's attractions, and one RV family saw whales every day of their stay.
Besides tent and RV sites with water and power, there are chalets with fireplaces and full kitchens, small cabins with river views, yurts, a tipi and a dome. Families who rented chalets found them clean, comfortable and quiet, with secure code entry. Recent campers repeatedly praise the washrooms and showers as extremely clean, and most found the staff friendly, including toward English speakers. Showers are coin-operated, and there's Wi-Fi and hiking trails.
It suits families and travellers using Tadoussac as a base, with games and a natural play area for kids and good fire pits at many sites. It books up well ahead in peak season, so reserve early.
The consistent complaint is space. Campsites are small and packed closely with little privacy, some are uneven or up a steep hill far from the washrooms, and on many sites your car must park across the road. Older reviews describe a poor dry toilet up the hill and frustrating management, but recent visitors are much happier.
