Craigleith Campground sits on the Georgian Bay shoreline in The Blue Mountains, about five minutes from Blue Mountain Village. The water is the main draw: some sites are right on the shore, and visitors describe good lake views and a beautiful shale shoreline. One family with a waterfront site had a water hookup and kids who spent the week walking straight from camp into the water.
The campground is small and easy to walk, with a camp store for forgotten items and a large playground, and stores are about ten minutes away. Sites, though, are small and close together with little screening between them. The beach is rocky rather than sandy, and nearby sandy beaches charge steep hourly parking.
Upkeep is where this park struggles. Several recent reviewers found washrooms and showers dirty or partly out of order, garbage bins overflowing and sites left littered, and one described the roadways as rutted and trees overgrown. A few other visitors had clean washrooms and friendly staff, so experiences vary, but the recent trend is negative.
Highway 26 runs alongside, and traffic noise is heard throughout the campground day and night; one camper recommended avoiding sites near the washroom doors and road. Blackflies can be bad early in the season, and after-hours entry is awkward. If you go, aim for a waterfront site and bring your own cleaning supplies.
