The campground is well kept, with clean bathrooms, a newer playground and friendly staff. Free firewood is a nice perk, and there's a cart to haul it back to your site. One camper suggested walking around to the back of the woodpile, where the better pieces tend to be. There is also a yurt, which one guest found cozy and warm.
The beach and boat dock are close, and the lake can be calm enough for good paddling. Walking trails run around the campground, including an interpretive trail to the historic Anderson Cabin. Longer hiking trails near the bridge are a short drive away and get strong praise, with routes for all levels.
